Three suggestions from the Governor of Edirne, Ekrem Canalp, for students on the choice of profession.
Edirne Governor Ekrem Canalp stated that at the Trakya Career Fair, the students who want to choose a profession and the representatives of the public and private sector, who offer students options, came together. Students who will begin to work should pay attention to three main issues and these issues are reading the future, having flexibility and evaluating it as entrepreneurship. Governor Ekrem Canalp addressed the following topics in his speech: “One of the most critical decisions you will make in your life is the decision about which profession you will make. Human life is spent working between 60 and 80 thousand hours. So now you are on the verge of a decision that will deeply affect your life. This fair, which you attend today, will guide you on these issues. The first thing that you esteemed students should make before choosing their profession is to read the future. It is necessary to see the change while reading the future. The same observation may be valid for the next 20 years or so. Some professions that were in demand 30 years ago are not able to maintain their former popularity today. Probably there will not be many professions that exist today after 20 years or they will lose their popularity. We must make our choices by taking into consideration not only the present but also the future. We should not forget that we should definitely consider certain alternatives and flexibility when choosing a profession, whether in the public or private sector.
President of the Human Resources Office of the Presidency Assoc. Dr. Salim Atay: “Edirne did not rest on the historical heritage and lay on it”
President of the Human Resources Office of the Presidency Assoc. Dr. Salim Atay stated that “Edirne as a city that has cradled civilizations, did not rest on the historical heritage and lay on it. I witnessed this today”. In his speech, the President of the Human Resources Office of the Presidency Assoc. Dr. Salim Atay pointed out that 20 years ago, there was a small number of universities in Turkey and the made the following statements in his speech.
“we are not only looking for talents for students who have graduated from İstanbul and Ankara”
“Due to the small number of universities, the state made a decision and increased the number of universities to 207. Naturally, a debate about quality also took place. We are all people with a university education. One of the main criteria of being civilized is to analyze the problems we face, to produce solutions and to do what is necessary. It was essential to open a university that day. Fortunately, it was opened and fortunately so many of our young people are going to university. In our time, the highest number of universities were in the U.S. Today, even in European countries with a population of 1-2 million, there are 40 universities, on the other hand, Turkey with this population had just 70 universities. It would be unfair for so many young people to have such a small number of universities. We do not only look for talent in students graduating from Istanbul and Ankara. As an office, we know that every young person who lives in our country and is entitled to receive university education is a talent. We believe you, please don't forget to believe in yourself, become aware of your skills. We will reflect business opportunities to you, as in every civilized country.
“Our studies are continuing to increase their internship opportunities in the public sector”
We continue our efforts to increase internship opportunities in the public through a model that provides the opportunity to those who deserve. We are working on a model that will be built on the internship of young people who receive university education from each profession.
Following the opening speeches, Rector of Trakya University hosting the Trakya Career Fair Prof. Dr. Erhan Tabakoğlu presented a plaque to sponsors and stakeholder university representatives who made financial and moral contributions to the organization.
